Nationalism in Hungary

In my opinion, Hungary displayed Liberal Nationalism. Liberal Nationalism is a country with equal rights for the people.“…The idea of the political nation rests on [one] pillar: (1) There is "equality before the law and a rule of law" in the republic. Every citizen enjoys equal rights, regardless of ethnic affiliation, and no one is above the law." This quote is an example of Liberal Nationalism in Hungary. The country stood for the people's equal rights. According to the quote, equality of the people stands before the law and is the first priority for the people of Hungary. The quote also says that no one is above the law. This is also referring to the equal rights of people by saying that no one has special rights above others and no one is put before one another.

Italian Nationalism

In my opinion, Italy went through Liberal Nationalism. Italy at that point was a law based society where majority ruled. For example, "Restricted franchise gave rights to vote and run for office to people of wealth"(author, 1).  This law allowed a certain group of people, in this case the wealthy, to participate in running and voting for office. This gave new opportunities to those people. Now, Italy has become a land of its own through fighting for unification. The citizens have fought for and received freedom. The Italians at that time accomplished many things including making a "constitutional monarchy" (author, 1) which contributed to making Italy Liberal.

Pieter Brughel's Painting

Q: How does this painting describe pre-media life?
A: In my opinion, this painting describes pre-media life in many ways. One way this describes pre-media life is that in that time period, people dressed differently. There were also no machines or no trucks to help workers in the field. As seen in the picture, everything had to be done by hand and they all worked as one community.
